Police in the Peloponnese arrested a 65 year old priest for shooting two dogs. The arrest followed an official complaint by local animal welfare organizations. The priest allegedly shot the two dogs in front of children in the town of Patras in the Peloponnese.
According to a report , the priest shot at the dogs who had got in his home yard.
Realizing that someone had called the police, the priest put the bodies of the animals in sacks and transported them to an unknown area where he dumped them.
The dogs reportedly belonged to a shepherd.
Members of animal welfare organizations and volunteers are reportedly seeking the bodies of the two animals in the wider area of the town.
The incident occurred on Sunday (2 April) morning.
Police arrested the priest in the evening and charged him within the 48 hour limit of ‘being caught in the act’ procedure which ensures a speedy trial.
