Cyclist dies after being hit by two cars in Akrotiri

A cyclist died in the early hours of Saturday morning at Akrotiri Chania when he was hit by two cars in quick succession.

The cyclist a man in his mid 30s believed to be a Moroccan national was thrown off his bike after being hit by a car, a taxi heading for the American base in Akrotiri, and he was hit by another car that was behind the taxi killing the unlucky rider.

An American army officer who was a passenger in the taxi offered first aid to the cyclist while waiting for the ambulance but the man died from his injuries by the time the ambulance arrived

In another accident,  a motorbike rider lost control of his motorbike and fell in Lentariana Chania on Saturday evening around 21:00. The man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
