Crete: German bookings up by 30%

Tornos News — German bookings for Crete record a positive trend with TUI up by 30% and Thomas Cook up by 12% and Alltours by 10% while many major airlines launch full charter flight programs earlier, on May 1, 2016, compared to the end of May last year, according to Heraklion Patris newspaper.

Former president Heraklion Hoteliers Association President Nikos Chalkiadakis said that German tour operators record a 15% bookings increase on average.

Tourism enterpreneur Costas Badouvas also notes: “I think we will do very well on the German market. Only in my office,  I see bookings increase by 20% -25%. But we will do well with Russia since the rubble exchange rate has collapsed“.

According to Mr. Chalkiadakis, by the end of this month, 10 large Heraklion hotels will begin operation to accommodate tourists during Catholic Easter. Occupancy is expected to reach 60%-65% with tha main bulk of foreign visitors coming from Germany, France, Holland and Switzerland.
