Apokoronas Shoe Boxes for Christmas 2015

In Apokoronas there are 140 families who receive regular food parcels from the Social Supermarket. In these families there are 305 children aged between kindergarten and Upper High School. An Appeal to fill a shoe box with small gifts to the value of a maximum of 10 euro so each child can have something special at Christmas has achieved its goal. 305 gift boxes and now ready for father Christmas to deliver.

Apokoronas Welfare, Gemma Whitfield, Marian van der Breggen and Ann Clayton who organised the appeal, and the rest of volunteers who worked very hard on this project want to say an enormous thank you to all those who have donated boxes, cash and gifts to put a smile on the faces of children in Apokoronas.

Contributions have been received from local people as well as from France, Holland and England.

The SHOEBOX Appeal had enough gifts and money to also give gifts to 25 young kids in an orphanage in Chania.
