eKathimerini — Former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis has said he will run in Greece’s next general election.
Speaking on Antenna TV on Friday, Varoufakis said a conference of his Democracy in Europe Movement 2025 (Diem25) will take place in Greece in February to prepare for the launch of the new grouping.
In the same interview, Varoufakis, who left his post at the finance ministry after refusing to accept the terms of a third bailout for Greece, criticized Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for expressing a narrative that does not correspond to reality.
“Tsipras is not doing politics at the moment. He is simply executing directives coming through mail from Brussels,” he said.
