Europe may have lost its appetite for helping Greece financially, but it seems Brits are keener than on the country’s cuisine, according to the chief executive of the online takeaways business Just Eat.
David Buttress said: “Pizza is the biggest-selling food category, followed by Chinese and Indian. But we can also see new cuisines coming through. The fastest-growing food type is Greek. Sometimes it can be healthier so perhaps we’re all being more healthy?”
The revelation comes as the stock market darling said sales jumped 54 per cent to £107.8m in the six months to the end of June, faster than expected, with pre-tax profits for the period up from £8.6m to £14m. The shares, which have doubled since listing last year, initially rose 4.5 per cent before ending down 3 per cent at 423p.
