The national road west of Chania at Vamvakopoulo closed this morning when the gathering rainwater made the road impassable to traffic.
Many other roads in Chania prefecture have turned into rivers.
Police advises drivers to take extreme care when driving in these conditions and not to attempt to cross flooded roads.
