As one of the loveliest sandy beaches in Crete, it’s easy to understand why people enthuse so much about Elafonisi.
At the southern extremity of Crete’s west coast, the beach is long, wide and is separated from the Elafonisi Islet by about 50m of knee-deep water.
The clear, shallow turquoise water and fine sand create a tropical paradise.
The islet is marked by low dunes and a string of semi-secluded coves that attract a sprinkling of naturists.
