Tornos News — The small island of Spinalonga is becoming one of the most popular archaeological sites of Crete attracting many Greek and foreign visitors, with tourist boats from Aghios Nikolaos, Elounta and the opposite to Spinalonga village of Plaka, ANA reports.
For over 50 years, the island of Spinalonga was the island of the lepers, a land of isolation and despair until 1957 when the lepers’ colony was closed down.
