eKathimerini — A proposal by Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis for cuts to staff in the House who are not directly involved in parliamentary work was approved on Thursday by a cross-party committee.
The proposal foresees the dismissal of more than 40 employees, mostly from the offices of former parliament speakers, former prime ministers and former heads of parliamentary groups.
The move follows an initiative by Voutsis to reassign offices in the main Parliament building which involved requests for former premiers and others to move into smaller offices.
