eKathimerini — The ramp of Panaghia tis Tinou passenger ferry, which started taking on water earlier this week while moored at Piraeus port, has been sealed and a pumping operation will be launched next week, authorities said on Thursday.
The ferry, which was seized by the state due to debts owed by its operator, starting listing dangerously on Tuesday, prompting a rescue effort.
Crews have already placed pollution barriers around the vessel and will now try to pump out an estimated 25,000 tons of water so they can examine the cause of the leak.
