eKathimerini — Seven more parliamentary employees were removed from their positions on Friday after an investigation revealed that they had either used forged qualifications to gain their jobs or had doctored their paperwork.
Four of the sacked employees worked as guards at the Parliament building.
Two of them had used fake high school diplomas, while the other two had tampered with their grades.
Another of the sacked employees had been hired in 1996 and worked as a typist, but during the probe it emerged she had used someone else’s high school diploma to secure her job.
Another of those dismissed worked at the office of ex-Prime Minister Costas Simitis from 2011, but it emerged that he did not possess the university degree used to obtain the position.
The seventh member of staff was employed in an MP’s office but had also used a fake high school diploma to get the job.
Parliamentary Speaker Nikos Voutsis has sent a total of 15 cases to the prosecutor’s office after internal checks, which were launched when Evangelos Meimarakis held the position between 2012 and 2014, revealed fraud.
One of those employees was sacked in December.
