A 24-hour strike called for Friday by the union representing staff of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority against the government’s plans to privatize regional airports.
The union (OSYPA), called the action to coincide with a hearing by the Council of State’s plenary session of the union’s appeal against the recent privatization of Greece’s regional airports.
OSYPA took the legal action jointly along with regional authorities as well as bar associations and business groups across the country.
The strike will start at oo:01 Friday 8 January and will end at midnight on Friday
The unionsays it is determined “to fight with all its forces against the de-Hellenization of Greek tourism and of our national economy”.
At the same time, OSYPA is calling on trade unions, local administration and local authorities to raise their voices against the decision and move ahead with actions as they will be “the first to suffer the dire consequences”.
