To Vima — “It is not in the current government’s intentions to tax the Church” said the caretaker Prime Minister Vasiliki Thanou, upon her arrival at the office of the Archbishop of Greece Ieronymos.
Mrs. Thanou’s visit to the Archbishop was purely formal and told journalists that the caretaker government is currently focusing the refugee crisis and assisting them in leaving from the islands to carry on their journey.
On his behalf, Archbishop Ieronymos gifted the caretaker PM with an icon of the Virgin Mary – among others – and a book on church property and the salaries of the clergy, which he urged her to read.
