ERT — Crete traffic police Monday, released driving offences records. The figures show that in a single weekend of checks (26 -28 January) at 156 checkpoints on the Crete road network there were over 1400 offences committed. Of these, there were 136 cases of speeding, 181 of not wearing helmets, 179 of not wearing seat belts, 71 of driving while under the influence, 66 for use of mobiles, 47 for illegal overtaking, 35 for dangerous driving and 16 for going through a red light.
626 offences were classified as ‘other infringements of the the road traffic regulations’.
