eKathimerini — The number of Greeks filing complaints to the Ombudsman, mostly about problems with the country’s public administration, rose to record levels last year.
Presenting the watchdog’s 2014 report to MPs on Tuesday, outgoing Ombudsman Calliope Spanou said that the body handled 16,439 complaints in 2014.
Social security funds were the subject of the largest proportion of complaints (35 percent), while tax-related grievances accounted for another 20 percent. Almost 15 percent of people who reported problems did so about local government.
Spanou added that 48 percent of the gripes were filed electronically and that 80 percent were resolved.
