eKathimerini — A second opinion poll showing New Democracy ahead of ruling SYRIZA following the election of Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the new opposition leader pointed to a 3.3 percent lead for the conservatives.
The survey, carried out by Alco for Proto Thema and published on Saturday, put New Democracy’s popularity at 21.3 percent compared with SYRIZA’s 18 percent, a marked drop for the radical left party after its election in September with 35.46 percent of the vote.
The Alco poll showed the Greek Communist Party (KKE) in third place with 5.4 percent, followed by ultranationalist Golden Dawn at 5.2 percent and the PASOK-Democratic Left coalition at 3.1 percent.
