Plans for the new north national road of Crete were made public last Wednesday at the Development Organisation of Crete during the executive council meeting. The council members expressed their confidence that the proposed 194 km road linking Kissamos to Ag Nikolaos, will be approved by the department of transport in the next rour months before it can move to the next stage.
The cost of the long overdue road, which is considered essential for the economic development of the island is estimated at 1.8 bln euro.
The planners anticipate the new two lane each way BOAK will include 51 junctions to link with the existing road network, eight tunnels and over 40 bridges.
