Doctors of the World (MSF) set up Christmas trees of milk at three points around Greece – Thessaloniki (Aristotelous Square), Athens (Athens University, Panepistimiou Street) and Chania Municipal Market Square.
At each location, Citizens helped build a tree of evaporated milk cans as part of the medical charity’s Christmas campaign. The milk will be distributed to local families in need as well as refugees through the MSF support network.
Contribution can be made from “morning until 10 pm” Chania MSF representative Eleftheria Mouloudaki said.
Guest performers outside the main event in front of the Athens University on Panepistimiou Street entertained the public.
The non-governmental organization is also calling for donations of medicines, clothing and non-perishable foodstuffs to aid their work with refugees.
