eKathimerini — Lawyers are to extend their ongoing strike until April 4. The federation of Greek bar associations met on Thursday to decide whether to continue the protest against the government’s pension reform proposals, which began early this year.
The lawyers renewed their call for the coalition to abandon the plan, which they believe places an undue financial burden on those working in the legal profession.
The lengthy strike has caused the backlog of court cases to rise and a number of high-profile trials, including that of Golden Dawn members in connection to the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas, to suffer significant delays.
The bar associations have refused to give special dispensation to lawyers involved in these cases to attend court.
