Travel agents and site guides are reacting to the steep price increases in archaeological site tickets, saying that the high prices could hit the country’s key tourism industry.
Prices for the most visited museums, the National Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, have also increased to 10 euros
These prices only apply during the summer season, from April to October. Ticket prices will will be reduced by 50% in the winter months, while every first Sunday of the winter season, admission will be free.
The most popular sites attracted more than 6 million visitors in the period January-June last year, an increase of 6.1 pct and revenues rose by 5.7 pct, compared to the same period in 2014.
