BBC — The family of a Dumfries woman found dead off the coast of Crete are to meet a new prosecutor.
Jean Hanlon’s body was discovered in 2009 and a local coroner declared the cause of death as drowning.
Her sons, who believe she was murdered, pushed for a second post mortem examination which suggested she had injuries consistent with a struggle.
Dumfries and Galloway MP Richard Arkless has taken up the case and is hopeful of a wider investigation.
He said her son, Michael Porter, was due to meet with a new prosecutor in Crete to take the case forward.
“We have been able to arrange a meeting for Michael to travel to Greece to meet with the prosecutor,” he said.
“That’s invaluable, because there are many threads of the investigation that Michael doesn’t think the police have gone down since this happened.
“So a face-to-face meeting with the prosecutor will enable Michael to put those things to the prosecutor to make sure that they investigate them properly.”
