Human skeleton discovered in Malia close to where Brit tourist Steven Cook vanished 12 years ago

A human skeleton has been found at the bottom of a well, while it was being cleared,  in the Greek resort of Malia, close to where British tourist Steven Cook vanished almost 12 years ago.

The remains are of a young male and according to local news reports, a leather belt and a single use camera were also discovered in the well.

Steven, 20, disappeared while out with friends on the first night of his holiday on the island of Crete, in September 2005.

Forensic tests are being carried out on the skeleton and Steven’s family in the UK have been told of the discovery.

On 5 February another skeleton was discovered in the same area on the Kokkini Hani beach that was found to be of an unknown woman who died 15 years ago.
