EMBROSNEROS 2016 –The line up at this year’s Embrosneros rock and pop music festival night, taking place on Sept 4th in the famous amphitheater near Vrisses, will feature a line-up of artists from Crete, UK, Ireland and beyond in a night that promises to be a feast of rock and pop music to remember.
Starting at 19:00, the event will feature, in order of appearance, Eric Whibley – a highly popular Crete-based, British singer-songwriter; “Big Blue”, an international musical project that brings together musicians living in Crete, Serbia and the UK, along with a special Cretan guest, Panagioitis Papadopoulos on mandolin; “Groovistas” – a popular Chania-based all Greek pop group; “3Mak + Alison” – one of the most hard-working bands in the region, with Mike Hague, Kostas Papadonakis and Alexey Kirichenko, joined for this occasion by special guest singer Alison Hatzidakis; “Irish Bob and the Terrible Tarmacers” – with a line including possibly the hottest rhythm section on the island –Trevor Bain and Nick Dutton, along with some promised “special guest appearances”, and finally, the hard-rocking Greek outfit, “Topless”, who raised a real storm at last year’s event.
All the artists are playing for free, to help raise money for “Apokoronas Friends of the Red Cross”, which supports Cretan families in distress.
The event is now in its 6th successful year, and has already raised over 18,000 Euros in vital charity support.
Commenting, one of the organisers, Ann Clayton said,
“We are very excited with this fantastic line up of artists, which includes more Greek musicians than ever before. It’s a completely unique event that takes place in the wonderful amphitheater, which has such a fantastic sound and atmosphere. This is a truly great way for all the local communities, Greek, ex-pats and visitors to come together for a great time and at the same time raise money to help those in need.”
