ITV NEWS — Search and rescue teams are looking for EgyptAir Flight MS804 which has gone missing on a flight from Paris to Cairo.
Greek authorities have joined the search for a missing EgyptAir plane by deploying two aircraft, a C-130 military plane and one early warning aircraft, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff said.
It also said a frigate was heading to the area and helicopters were on standby on the southern island of Karpathos for potential rescue or recovery operations.
Airbus’ verified Twitter account said: “We are aware of media reports. At this time we have no further details, but we will provide further information when available.”
Here is what we know so far:
- Flight MS804 was travelling from Paris to Cairo, and took off from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris at 11.09pm local time.
- EgyptAir said contact with the A320 was lost 10 miles inside Egyptian airspace at 2.45am local time.
- EgyptAir said 56 passengers were on board, including two babies and a child. There were three airline security personnel and seven cabin crew – making a total of 66 people on board.
- The airline has said there is one Briton, 30 Egyptians and 15 French among those on board.
- Egyptian aviation officials have said they believe the plane probably crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.
- There were reportedly no distress calls from the flight, and the pilot had 6275 flight hours.
- A site has been identified for a search and rescue operation, according to the airline.
