eKathimerini — Food production in Greece remains an area of the country’s economy where there is ample room for improvement.
Despite the fact that Greece has an ideal climate and geography for producing a multitude of fruit and vegetables, 731.27 million euros was spent on imports of such goods last year.
To make matters worse, official data show a 10.3 percent increase in comparison with 2014.
Ranking eighth in the list of the main products Greece imports, is meat, which came with a price tag of 1.07 billion euros, even though the country has a huge stock of sheep and goats.
