A fire that broke out in Kambi Kissamos on Monday evening is now under control, Chania fire department said.
Six fire engines and 10 firefighters were involved in getting the fire under control.
The fire destroyed 40 000 sq metres of agricultural, forestry and frigana land said the fire department. the causes of the fire are being investigated.
On Monday there were dozens of calls to the fire department to, as strong winds helped fires spread.
The fire department suspects that some of these fires started as a result of burning olive tree pruning as it is traditional at this time of the year, when the undergrowth is usually still wet.
