The General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE) called a 24-hour general strike for next Wednesday, on May 30.
Seamen’s union, NPO announced earlier in the month that its members will be taking part in the strike.
That means ferries will not be operating normal timetables and there may be a disruption in other types of road and rail transport on the day.
If you are travelling by ferry on Wednesday you are advised to check with the operator as there may be a change in the times of sailing to and from Crete
GSEE said that the strike is being held in protest against the “continuous disastrous policies of austerity, unemployment and overtaxation.”
