Strong winds blew a 50 foot mature eucalyptus tree on the Kandanos – Chania road, 20 km before Kandanos, yesterday morning blocking the entire road for about an hour.
Luckily there were no cars on that point of the road when the tree fell, but several cars were trapped in the blocked road until the tree was removed.
The emergency services acted immediately to remove the tree and unblock the road to traffic.
