Tornos News — Every year Griekenland.net, Dutch online promotion platform for Greece, organizes an online survey for the favourite Greek islands by tourists in Holland.
This year 3.462 visitors voted for their favorite island in Greece.
Crete got 16,4% of the votes and is the number one Greek destination this year in Holland. Runner up is Zakynthos which received 16,2% of the Dutch votes. Also in 2014 and 2015 Crete was choosen on top of the list. Zakynthos ended on 7th position last year and 9th in 2014.
In Holland, Greece is an important destination for summer holidays. FromAmsterdam Schiphol, Eindhoven Airport and Rotterdam Airport direct charter flights start in April and end in October.
Greece’s capital Athens and the city of Thessaloniki have also regular flights in winter time.
A rise of 63,8% in in online poll voting was recorded in comparison to last year.
Santorini ended in fifth position (+4) for 2016 while Samos (-4) and Rhodes (-2) ranked lower in this year’s top 10 list.
Lesbos and Kefalonia ended in 9th and 10th position. Corfu got 3rd and Kos reached 4th position.
