Cloud of African dust covers Greece
The extremely strong southerly winds (up to 10 on the Beaufort scale) that blow over the country are responsible for the African dust that has covered the eastern and southern parts of the country.
Flights to the Aegean islands and Crete were cancelled on Sunday due to limited visibility. The dust cloud that covers the wider area of Athens is expected to dissolve at Monday noon however it will remain over the islands of the eastern Aegean until Tuesday, said meteorologist Nikolaos Andritsos to ANA-MPA.
