eKathimerini — Wheel clamps will be introduced in Athens next week as part of efforts by local authorities to stamp out a recent spike in illegal parking in the city center.
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis said on Friday that the aim of the measure is to keep squares, pedestrian zones and access to street ramps for the disabled free from cars.
“Athens will start clamping down on anti-social behavior,” Kaminis said, deriding a “mentality that goes back decades and which only got worse when the municipal police force was disbanded for two years.”
