Chania hire scheme that was first first announced in June 2014 was inaugurated yesterday, with Chania Town mayor, Mr Vamvoukas, being the first to use one of the hire bikes .
The €160K EU funded project was originally meant to start at the beginning of the peak tourist season in June.
The 70 bikes available are located at four central parts of Chania:
Talo square 10 locking bays
Katehaki square 15 bays
Defkalion Square 22 bays
Markopoulos square 23 bays.
Use of a cycle is free for up to three hours between 9 am to 9pm. To use the bikes you need to register at the KEP office in Ypsilanton & Mylonoyanni tel.28213 41767. You will need your ID, AFM number.
