Cretan farmers have started a campaign against the new tax measures the government has brought before parliament for approval.
As an early warning of the disruptive action farmers are prepared to take, a noisy demonstration picketed Chania tax office on Wednesday.
The farmers are protesting against having to pay 55% advance on next year’s estimated income which the farmers say cannot be calculated. The measure will mean the end of the line for the majority of farmers who at the moment find it hard to make ends meet.
