Thoughts of reducing taxes for older and smaller vehicles while calculating vehicle tax for the rest on a new CO2 emissions scale (that would increase the tax for many others) appear to have been shelved for now as time for implementing tax changes has run out. Road tax is therefore likely to remain the same as last year.
The government is still expected to go ahead with the increased tax on cigarettes, set for January 1
