eKathimerini — Car rental bookings from abroad recorded a year-on-year decline for the months of April and May, according to data from the Association of Hellenic Car Rental Tourism Enterprises.
Its president, Dimitris Magioros, estimates that the drop in bookings for the period amounts to 20 percent compared to the same two months last year.
He added that the sector is pinning its hopes on last-minute bookings. In a speech at the association’s general meeting on Friday, Magioros cited the extended recession, the capital controls, the general political instability in the southeastern Mediterranean and migration issue as the main reasons for the decline.
