A 5.4 earthquake in the early hours of the morning felt in most of Crete

The epicentre was 51 km SE of Palaikastron at a depth of 10 KM

The area remained active through the night with 10 more tremors recorded magnitude between 3 and 3.6 R

Witness location Ierapetra: Started with furniture creaking and moving and continued with swaying for more than a minute. Felt dizzy afterwards.

Witness location Heraklion: Lasted not more than 10 seconds here. As with all of the earthquakes the past months, I felt that it came in two distinct waves, the first being shorter and lighter (but this may be just due to the properties of the building I live in). It was softer that what I would expect for the magnitude, the depth, and my distance for the epicenter.

Witness location : Thera (Santorini) (202 km NW from epicenter): A subtle shake but not like the one in Athens last night
