Three mental health patients die in fire at Athens Psychiatric Hospital

Three people were killed on Friday afternoon during a fire that broke out at the ground floor of Dafni Psychiatric Hospital in Athens, Greece.

The three deceased individuals were hospital patients. The Greek Fire Department said that three more people were seriously injured. The Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported that the fire department noted that the victims possibly died from the fumes while there is an ongoing search for a missing patient.

Firefighters evacuated all of the patients from the hospital ground floor even after the fire had been put out.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and there is an ongoing investigation.
