eKathimerini — Two tax inspectors sent to the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes to conduct spot checks at businesses for tax evasion were caught in the act of taking a bribe on Tuesday.

The two officials from Crete were arrested when 300 euros in marked bills were found in their possession after a local businessman tipped off police that the tax inspectors had offered him a clean report in exchange for money.

Police provided the businessman with the notes that he later handed to the tax inspectors, who were taken into custody in the center of Neochori.
