Knossos the 2nd most expensive archaeological site in Greece from 1April

Travel agents and site guides are reacting to the steep price increases in archaeological site tickets, saying that the high prices could hit  the country’s key tourism industry.

From 2016, the ticket to visit the archaeological site of Acropolis costs  20 euros instead of 10.
The ticket price to the archaeological site of Knossos is now  15 euros, up from the 6 euro it was last year, making Knossos the second most expensive site in Greece.

Prices  for the most visited museums, the National Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, have also increased to 10 euros

These prices only apply during the summer season, from April to October. Ticket prices will will be reduced by 50% in the winter months, while every first Sunday of the winter season, admission will be free.

The most popular sites attracted more than 6 million visitors in the period January-June last year, an increase of  6.1 pct  and revenues rose by 5.7 pct, compared to the same period in 2014.
