Greek fruit and vegetable exports rise in first half of 2016

There was a sharp rise in the volume and value of Greek fruit exports in the first half of the year, according to Incofruit Hellas, the association of Greek fruit and vegetable exporters.

The volume of fruit exports rose by 47.4 percent between January and June compared to the first half of 2015, while the value of the fruit sold abroad increased by 25.7 percent. The total value of fruit exports reached 413.9 million euros.

Vegetable exports were up 23.5 percent in terms of volume and 10.6 percent in value, earning Greek producers 108.3 million euros during the first half of the year.

The biggest increase for fruits was in lemon exports (971.1 percent), while for vegetables it was cucumbers (30.2 percent).
