Foreign ministry says surprised by Hungarian PM’s criticism of Greece

ANA – MPA — Greece’s foreign ministry sources criticized on Friday statements by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban who accused Greece for the refugee crisis and the situation at the Serbian-Hungarian border.

“One wouldn’t expect such a behavior from the head of a European state which learned first-hand what the imposition of external violence, crisis and fleeing means, when after the Soviet invasion of 1956, Hungarian political refugees escaped en masse towards Western Europe,” ministry sources said.
One wonders, the sources continued, if the leader of this friendly country is leading it to the path of the defining principles of United Europe, which are respect for human rights, pluralism and solidarity.
