Chania one of the busiest airports in the country

Sign at the entrance of Chania airport reads: 110 million euro budget for the expansion and improvement of the terminal and the grounds of the airport. Funded by EU with the contribution of the Greek state. The work is still in progress.

ERT — Chania airport has recorded one of the biggest increases in traffic among Greek airports for March 2017. 

Chania was the  4th busiest airport with 82.167 passengers  after Athens (1.374.600),  Thessaloniki (409.035),  and Heraklion (93.507).

The overall increase in passenger traffic for the first three months of 2017 was 5.5% with the number of passengers approaching 2.2 million.
