Aspes beach, Heraklion’s best kept secret

Apokoronaslife.gr featured this secluded beach in Heraklion this week,  as a beach known only to locals. So is you are looking for a secluded beach away from the August crowds and the news of the crisis   you could consider an excursion to the south cost of Heraklion prefecture, where the Asterousia mountains meet the coastline 68 km from Heraklion.

The beach is only accessible by boat and those who have visited say that is well worth the effort.

It has dark sands and huge rocks raised right and left which create striking shadows and hollows. The water has different colors giving a tropical tinge to the whole scene. It is between the beaches of Agios Nikitas and the village of Tris Ekklisies also worth visiting.

The beach and the area in general is suitable for fishing and swimming for those seeking a quiet secluded beach.
